rehabbing from the holidays

It feels great to be back in Lexington for a while. We’ve traveled to B.G. for the past three weekends, and I’m ready to avoid Bluegrass Parkway for a while. But our times in B.G. were a lot of fun. I’m very thankful for the time I get to spend with the little bros since our time together is limited. I basically spent the majority of the New Year’s weekend playing XBOX 360 and Wii with Luke and Edward.

The Music City Bowl was a blast. Kim and I ventured to Nashville with the family minus Luke, who was in Birmingham. I never imagined that UK would blow open the score as much as they did. Of course the final score only had us eight points ahead, but that was the result of two fourth-quarter touchdowns by Clemson. It felt great to pull out a win after all those close calls in the past including Tennessee in 2001 and 2006 (we basically had both games won), Florida in 2002 (Jared Lorenzen’s falling interception), LSU in 2002 (the Hail Mary touchdown pass that touched two UK defender’s hands before falling into an LSU receivers hand), and Arkansas in 2003 (a 7 overtime loss).

Of course it was ironic that this victory came against the school Kim received her Master’s degree from. It was an odd sight to see Kim wear her orange shirt but cheer for UK. Kim even brought a Clemson flag to hang on the van. Luckily the UK flag was much larger than the Clemson one.

Now I’m focused on passing the two music tests of the Praxis series.  I’m also about to begin my student teaching placement at George Rogers Clark high school.  I’m very excited about having a new adventure this semester.  I don’t think I could take another semester of classes.  Thankfully, I received lots of professional attire for Christmas.  I haven’t yet grasp how weird it will be to not wear jeans and a hoody everyday.
