(insert witty title here)

For the past three weeks I’ve been observing a general music class at Veterans Park Elementary School. Keep in mind that observing involves me sitting in a corner by myself while the teacher runs the class as normal. I was happy with this agreement until the teacher had to leave the class to help another teacher. Before walking out the door, she handed me the teacher’s book and let me continue teaching the students to sing a round. It was an interesting experience being handed the reigns to a class while 30 pairs of big second grader eyes are staring at you.

Thankfully, my first foray into general music teaching went well. I was able to keep the kids attention until their teacher returned. But I learned that I might like to be a general music teacher. The schedule is more attractive… no after school marching band practices, no saturday competitions. Kids in elementary school seem to be more excited about learning.

Anyways, I think I’ve discovered another career opportunity.
